We are happily flowing right into 2019 with the release of this year’s FlowRider® FLOW Tour schedule! The new season is around the corner and will return to fantastic FlowRider venues all over the US.
Competitors of all ages and skill levels will showcase their moves on the popular sheet-wave attraction with hopes of becoming a Regional Champion, Tour Champion, National Champion and Qualifying for the World Flowboarding Championships.
FlowRider attractions are located indoors, outdoors, at sea and just about everywhere in between. Thus, leaving the calendar wide open for competitions revolved around this edgy and rapidly growing board sport.
“The FLOW Tour is generally a summer time gig, but with more waves being installed and a continuously growing rider base, we can see it trending towards a year-round events schedule,” claims Tour Coordinator, Adam Muller. “Our goal is to include everyone and keep the stoke alive,” Muller adds.
In partnership with FlowRider, Inc., the US FLOW Tour is excited to introduce a few of those new waves, return to our staple venues and even mix things up as we continue to grow the flow.
“We look forward to welcoming the FLOW Tour and setting up events for years to come” proudly states Michel Hays, Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark GM. Epic Indoor Waterpark installed in 2018, will be a new arena for competition and staple location for flowboarders nationwide.
With feedback from our flowboarders community, a couple adjustments and updates have been made to the US FLOW Tour.
First, if you don’t already have the Stact App, download it fo’ free! The Stact App is game changer and makes the future for Flowboarding even brighter. FLOW Tour Memberships will be available on the Stact App and riders are encouraged to set up their rider profiles and follow along at events and overall season ranking updates. FLOW point standings will now play a larger role and will in turn include more flowboarders across the country.
In years past, Prime events were the only competitions offering points and ranking implications. There will now be National and Regional Rankings at stake, creating more incentives at local Pro/Am events and encourage riders in the surrounding areas to challenge each other.
Moving forward the US Tour will be broken down into four regions. West Coast, Central, North East and South East. Each Official FLOW event on the calendar will play a role in determining the top flowboarders for each region. Click here for more details.
Prime events will have a weighted point scale, guaranteed prize money (minimum of $2,500) for the Pro Divisions and direct inclusion in the National Tour Standing for FLOW Tour Members.
With top 5 event results counting (dropping your lowest two results of 7 Prime events) toward Overall National rankings and Championship seeding.
The FLOW Tour season kick-off will be hosted by Silver Rapids Waterpark at Silver Mountain in Kellogg, Idaho (Prime Stop #1) on the weekend of April 13th, featuring a $4,000 prize pro purse sponsored by CCI and Black Pearl Casino, season kick-off party and more!
Prime Event locations will include: Silver Rapids Waterpark (ID), Rapids Water Park (FL), Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark (TX), Flow House Wildwood (NJ), Flow House Thundering Surf (LBI) and H20BX Waterpark (NC).
Win a Prime event, and you will automatically get a Golden Ticket seed into the National Championship! With only 7 Golden Tickets invites available for each division for the National Championship, competitors will be eager to secure a spot in the finals.
US National Championships will be hosted by Waterville USA in Alabama the weekend of August 17th with an increased pro price purse and loads of competitor incentives.
“Waterville USA is extremely excited to host the FlowRider® FLOW Tour National Championships” states President of Waterville USA, Joe Warrington. “We have been a staunch supporter of the Flowboarding sport/community since the early days and ready to have the Championships back on the Gulf Shores.” Joe explains.
Featured Pro/Am competitions and Prime stops, leading up to Nationals, will offer point allocations towards regional rankings for FLOW Tour Members. Regional rankings will help determine your seed for Nationals and give FLOW Tour Members a chance to earn a spot on the regional teams. Top-finishing FLOW Tour Members in each division will represent the Regional Team at Nationals.
