2016 World Flowboarding Championships – Singapore

“Back to where it all got started,” some might say.

We are excited to announce that the 2016 World Flowboarding Championships is returning to Wave House Sentosa! Both the FlowRider and FlowBarrel World Flowboarding Championships will take place October 28, 29 and 30th featuring the world’s best flowboarders!

Back in 2009 is when Wave House Sentosa successfully fulfilled our Southern California surfing lifestyle venue visions. Built from the ground up right on the beach, Wave House Sentosa features food and beverage, shopping and of course the illustrious FlowRider and Flow Barrel attractions.

“Wave House Sentosa has been going strong for 7 years strong and there is no better place for these events,” explains Rob Chalfant, Flowboarding League of the World’s (FLOW) Head Judge. “The venue hosted some legendary events in 2009 and 2010,” Chalfant declares.

In addition to World Championship events, Wave House will be celebrating their 7 Year Anniversary, so you know this is a party you won’t want to miss.

Wave House Sentosa hosted the first World Championships showcasing both styles of riding and all disciplines. The event was originally known as the International Flowboarding Championships and created a bigger vision for the sport. That first event and all that followed, strongly incorporated the team aspect with various countries and also wild card teams where competitors from around the world, began to build rivalries. Those events really put Singapore on the map and established a bold precedent for the sport of flowboarding.

Competitors would compete in all disciplines, FlowRider and FlowBarrel, combining scores and placings to determine overall team winners and World Champions.

The fire was most definitely lit by Wave House Sentosa back in the day and they still heavily contributed to the overall growth of the sport in Asia and all over the world. They continue to do so by hosting annual Asia FLOW Tour events and now welcoming back the 2016 World Flowboarding Championships.

“The flow community is exceptionally excited,” mentions FLOW Tour Coordinator, Adam Muller. “The talent and skill set in the region offers some of the best riders in world, the level of competition will be raised once again!” Muller adds.

Not only does the Island of Sentosa offer a stellar Wave House venue with plenty of action day or night, but in addition, there are so many other things to do on Sentosa Islands. Flowboarders will be undoubtedly enjoy their time on and off the waves during competition weekend.
