Annual Winter Wipe Out Event at Split Rock Produces Solid Turnout
Split Rock hosted its annual Winter Wipe Out Pro/Am flowboarding this past Saturday.
“The event showcased an excellent rider turn out along with solid support from the hosting venue and contributing sponsors,” noted Competition Coordinator and Head Judge, Chris Granone.
All competitors enjoyed a fun day on and off the wave. On the wave, the Masters Flowboard division and Pro Flowboard divisions provided progressive riding and exciting competition. Mike Pappalardo finished as the the “Top Dog” earning himself a 1st place finish in the Masters Flowboard Division, the largest division of the event.
In the Pro Flowboard division, Tyler Hentges and Austin Ogule cooked up a heated battle, competitively countering each other’s performances back to back. Chris Granone called it the “run of the competition.” Ogule earned himself an average score of a 9.0 on his final run of the contest and scored his first Pro/Am Pro Division victory. It should also be noted that Austin, earned top honors in the Bodyboard division as well.
Pro Bodyboarders, Hasim Paptuchi, Jordan Grigg and Danny Tepper battled it out and finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
The competition featured divisions for all ages and skill levels, from youth to professionals, and included the growing Adaptive Division. Sean Fitzpatrick and Taylor Espositio led the charge in the Adaptive Division, showcasing excellent control and awareness on the FlowRider.
