For the past couple years, the FlowRider US FLOW Tour has held the season finale to Utah with not one, not two, but three contests on three different FlowRider attractions. This combination of events at Lindon Aquatics Center, Provo Beach and FlowRider Utah (Ogden) have established what is now called Championship Week.
Competitors have traveled the country all summer long taking on the best flowboarders from around the nation on various FlowRider attractions and it all comes down to the final three events. With much at stake and division titles on the line, here are some #TOURTips to help calm the nerves before a weekend full of traveling and fierce competition.
Early Arrival – Fly in early and get practice time on all three waves.
Stay Happi: When traveling, it’s important to make sure you are “Happi”. Speaking from experience, we recommend the Happi Hoodz hoodie for travel and relaxation. In addition, don’t forget to pack your Happi Hoodz change towel for easy and fast wet to dry wardrobe changes.
Trust The Bum – Sun Bum sunscreen is the official sponsor of the 2016 FlowRider FLOW Tour. Trust the bum and be sure to add layers of sunscreen to protect yourself from the hot sun during the Lindon competition and on any of your extra outdoor adventures.
Sunday Funday – Nothing is open in Utah on Sunday – we mean nothing! Be prepared to create your own excitement on Sunday Funday or just kick back and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
The Day After – Be sure to pack something nice. The Awards Banquet and after party on Saturday night calls all flowboarders to dress to impress. Well, you can kick it in your casual wear, but it’s fun to dress up for this one! Either way, it’s going to be a long night of celebration with friends, family and friendly rivals. You will most likely want to sleep in, so we recommend you plan your travel accordingly. Try your hardest to book an afternoon or evening departure flight to allow yourself some recovery time before the trip back home.
Take A Hike – Utah has a lot of outdoor adventures, mountain hikes and beautiful scenery. We suggest you get out there and explore all that Utah has to offer. Good times would be the Friday between competitions or maybe just stay an extra day. There are rumors of a giant lake slide that could really fire up the adrenaline junkies. Hit up some of the local flowboarders in the area, like Dallin Jaussi, Logan Lindeman, Dee Spencer, just to name a few; they may give you the inside scoop.
Play Provo – Not only does Provo offer up one of the most fun FlowRider Double attractions in the country, it also is one of the most all-around fun venues on the FLOW Tour. In between your heats, bring your coins to play in the arcade, test your balance/strength by taking on the ropes course, challenge your friends to round of mini golf or a game of bowling!
Only In Ogden – Ogden is a great little area with a lot to offer. Besides checking out the Solomon Center and all the activities they offer, be sure to cruise the strip. Check out some local restaurants and shops, see a movie or potentially catch minor league baseball game.
Costa Vida- Everybody loves a good Mexican meal. right? Be sure to grab a bite to eat at Costa Vida, located right next door to FlowRider Utah in Ogden.
